Slight Change in the Tiny Tiger Schedule.

We just hit our 2 Year Anniversary and our Tiny Tiger program has grown tremendously since 2012.  In order to give students the fair share of attention needed for them to grow and improve we need to offer a couple classes based on specific belt rankings.

Starting the week of July 21st we will be implementing the new Tiny Tiger schedule.  Here is a run down of what the schedule will look like.

Mondays & Wednesdays (NO changes)

  • 3:30, 5:00, 5:30pm – All Belt Ranks

Tuesdays & Thursdays

  • 3:30 – All Belt Ranks
  • 5:00 – Blue Belt and Up
  • 5:30 – White Belt to Green Belt
Fridays (NO change)
  • 3:30, 4:00 – All Belt Ranks
Saturday (NO change)
  • 11:00am, 11:30 – All Belt Ranks

Join Us For Our 2 Year Anniversary Event Sunday July 13th

Can you believe we’ve made it to 2 years?  Its all because of our awesome members and the community that has been built.

It doesn’t matter if you a current member, former member, or just a friend.  We hope you all can join us for our 2nd Anniversary event next Sunday July 13th from 11am-12pm.  Please come and invite your family and some of your friends for this 1 hour event.  Introduce them to us and give them a tour of where you spend your time training.  Even if you can’t stay for the hour please just stop by to just say hello.

  • Annual Group photos.  (Hapkido Jr / Tiny Tiger students must wear full uniform.  Adult members please show support and wear one of our shirts)

Small Summer Schedule Change Starting June 16th (Hapkido Jr. Green Belt and up)

Starting June 16th, Monday and Wednesdays we will be offering a 9am Hapkido Jr. class for Green Belt ranking and higher.  Because of this the Monday and Wednesday 4pm Green Belt and up class will be CANCELLED.

This special class time will run from June 16th until August 6th while most children are on summer vacation.

  • To recap the two Green belt and up classes on Monday and Wednesdays will be at 9am and 6pm starting Jun 16th ending Aug 6th.

No other classes will be changed or affected.

Quarterly Student Report Cards

The 4pm class and I were discussing their report cards from school.  I thought to myself why don’t we have that.  We are an academy, we teach students, thus students should be graded just like at school.  We have belt exams but that only scores a child based on performance over one day and that happens only every few months.  Some parents drop their child off, others workout at the same time.  This will allow you to find out how your child is doing over the course of 3 months.  

So problem solved, we will be handing out quarterly progress report cards to every student.  The first progress report card will be handed out toward the end of this week and early next week covering January – March 2014.  
Just like school, items will be scored on a scale from 1 to 4.  Since most children can relate, 1 is a rating of poor while 4 is excellent.  Children understand that too many 1’s on a school report card can cause them to be held back from their next grade.  Same rules apply at Evolution, too many 1’s on our progress report card will cause them to be held back from their next projected belt exam.  
Parents these progress reports will be passed out to your child.  Instead of emailing them straight to you we want to make sure they see what their scores are and what they need improvement in.  These report cards must be signed by a parent and returned to us.
These report cards will only go out to Juniors.  No report cards for Tiny Tigers or adults.

Free Movie Night Friday April 11th. Bring Your Friends and Watch Frozen.

We are offering a free movie night at Evolution Martial Arts Academy on Friday April 11th. Invite your friends and come watch Frozen on our big screen. If you missed your chance to watch it in the theaters you can come watch it here for free with your friends.

The movie will start promptly at 7:15pm we suggest you arrive around 6:50. Please plan to feed dinner to your children dinner before you arrive, we will be serving free freshly popped popcorn. Have your child bring a water bottle.  Drinks will be available for purchase and there will also be a bake sale for some sweets available for purchase as well.

Also remember to have them bring their favorite pillows and blankets so can lay back and enjoy the movie. The movie will end at 8:45pm, parents if you are not staying please come back and pick them up by 9:00pm.

Introducing Our First EVO Clinic. March 16th

We are holding our first EVO Clinic on Sunday March 16thfrom 11:30-12:30pm.  If you or your child needs a bit more help in Hapkido working toward their tips, or getting ready for an upcoming exam this clinic is perfect for them.  The cost of this one-hour clinic is $20, a minimum of 3 kids must to sign up for the clinic to take place.  Think of it as a group private lesson, you pick what YOU need to work and improve on.  Instructors will go around helping you and giving feedback on what you could improve on.  There will always be a good ratio of instructors so you are guaranteed quality attention.
There is no stretching, or games, the hour is strictly working on curriculum and your skills.  This clinic does not guarantee you a tip or a successful passing of your exam.  This clinic is an additional supplement to regular class attendance and practice at home.

Parent and Me Classes Are Here to Stay

We have concluded all 4 weeks of the parent and me trial classes at Evolution Martial Arts Academy.  These trial classes were for us to adjust our teaching style to accommodate the youngest children we have ever taught.  After receiving lots of positive feedback from parents we have decided to officially add this type of class permanently.
We have learned parents want to keep their children active.  We will do our best to keep them moving and developing better motor skills while keeping everything fun.  We will also still incorporate a little martial arts into this program.  Class format will remain relatively the same because kids at this age like similar structure and familiarity.  Each week kids will work on a new martial arts technique the “skill” of the week.  The skill will cycle over again approximately every few weeks.  This class is a much slower paced class than our other martial arts classes.   
Here is everything you will need to know if you would like to join this program. 
  • All new students who have never tried these classes will receive 2 free trial classes to decide if they would like to join. 
  • Ages for this program are 2.5 to 4.  If your child is 4 or close to turning 4 we suggest they take our normal Tiny Tiger program where it is just student and instructor.  This program will be too easy and not challenging for them. 
  • Class will be held only on Sundays 10:30-11:15am (days and times may change in the future) starting January 5th 2014
  • The Pricing will be $99 for a 10 Class Pack.  After every class the card will be punched, when you run out you can purchase a new pack.  Classes on packs never expire and can only be used for Parent and Me classes. 
  • Students will be required to purchase and wear a uniform for $40 this includes patches and name embroidery.
  • Family discounts are available if you have older children interested in martial arts or if parent’s are interested something for themselves.  Please email info@evomaa.net for pricing.
