Halloween Reminder, Jr & Tiny Tiger Classes Cancelled on Halloween.

Quick reminder Tiny Tiger and Jr classes are cancelled on Halloween, October 31st, due to the fact that most kids will be getting ready and going out trick or treating.  Please stay safe when trick or treating and have parents examine all candy and items found in bags.  

Just like last year if you would like to you can wear your costume to class on Wednesday October 30th.  You can bring your full costume but any masks and other accessories must be put off to the side when taking class.  If you are not wearing a costume to class, normal hapkido attire required.  
Class schedule for Wednesday October 30th is normal schedule. No changes for Adult schedule on Halloween.

We are having a minor change to our Hapkido Jr. schedule.  This new schedule should help us focus more on specific belt rankings.  Starting September 2nd these are the following changes.

“Jessie was a beautiful, tough, firecracker of a little girl who was loved and will be missed by many. Unfortunately, NMC is difficult to diagnose and there is no know treatment for it because it is rare and has very little funding for research.

I am inviting everyone I know to help raise money and awareness for NMC research by skating at the Woodland Hills outdoor ice rink on Jan 11th. Please print and bring the attached flyer to the event and with any luck, this new year will see the end of a terrible disease. ❤”

Tiny Tigers Starts Oct. 1st. Class Schedule Change.

We would like to introduce our newest program beginning Monday October 1st at Evolution Martial Arts Academy, the Tiny Tigers program.  This program is designed especially for 3-5 year olds, it is where little ones build the foundation needed to become future black belts.  Children at this age are developing at an unbelievable pace.  Although they will learn several kicks and punches, our primary focus for children this age include:

  • Improving listening skills and following directions
  • Showing respect to their parents, instructors, and others
  • Working on hand-eye coordination and mobility
  •  Developing better focus
  •  Building self confidence
  • Improving social skills with other children

Just like our Hapkido program, the Tiny Tigers program is curriculum based.  This curriculum has been designed specifically to keep children interested and motivated to learn new skills including life skills and safety awareness that will help in school and around the house.  They will learn at a young age, it takes hard work and practice to achieve challenging goals.
Our goal is to have Tiny Tigers constantly learning and developing new skills, both on and off the mat while still having tons of fun.  Classes are 30 minutes, please email info@evomaa.net for more information or questions.

WORLD’S WINNINGEST FIGHTER ENTERS ROUND 60
Woodland Hills, California – In a world where fame is fleeting and most people fight for their 15
minutes of fame, martial arts movie star and kickboxing legend Benny “The Jet” Urquidez is reaching
one more milestone: his 60th birthday.
To celebrate a life dedicated to martial arts and personal excellence, Urquidez will host and teach
a Kickboxing Certification and Training Camp on Thursday, June 14, through Saturday, June 16.
Attendees to the training camp, (to be held at Team Karate Centers in Woodland Hills, CA) will have
the opportunity to hear Urquidez teach words of wisdom garnered in a professional career without peer.
Most pro fighters hope for a hint of the limelight, perhaps a chance at a title shot. Urquidez’s pro
fighting career spanned more than two decades, with 63 world titles. He is the only fighter in history to
have retained six World Championships in five weight divisions for 24 consecutive years. He was
named Black Belt Magazine’s Fighter of the Year and inducted into their Hall of Fame. He became an
international movie star in his own right, appearing with Jackie Chan, John Cusack, and Jean-Claude
Van Damme; and simultaneously trained with and choreographed fights for Hollywood A-listers like
Tom Cruise, Nicolas Cage, and Mark Wahlberg. Urquidez even founded and created Ukidokan Karate,
recognized by the Okinawan Masters of Japan as an official modern martial art.
But above and beyond all his other accomplishments, Benny “The Jet” Urquidez is and always
has been, first and foremost, a teacher. To that end, he invites all comers to share his birthday
celebration and participate in the Kickboxing Certification and Training Camp.
Attendees will spend Thursday, Friday, and Saturday training with “The Jet” and learning his
methods and skills. And more important, they will have the priceless opportunity of hearing his
philosophy and the life lessons that have kept him going strong in careers where most people last
months, not decades. There will also be a special reception at Team Karate Centers on Friday night to
celebrate Urquidez’s 60th birthday, and all attendees to the seminar are welcome to share in the
