We Will Begin Using Attendance ID Cards Soon.

Our student count is beginning to increase which is great news.  We will be implementing attendance ID cards to help us keep track of who has been coming to class.  We are still slowly creating cards, if you don’t see your card don’t panic its because we need to take a picture of you.  Below are the steps of how to use these cards.

  1. When you and/or your child comes to take class please pick up your ID card on the wall between the men and women dressing rooms.  Adult cards are on the card holder on top, Jr and Tiny Tiger cards are in holders below.
  2. Cards are placed in holders by LAST name.
  3. Coaches and Instructors will collect the cards before every class.
  4. Cards will be placed back into holders ready for pickup for next visit. 
Important Notes.
  • Please DO NOT take cards home.
  • All students must present a card to take class.  
  • Monthly, 10 Power Pack, Special Deal, and Trial Members will all have cards.
  • If your card is not in the holders please check with someone at the front desk.

New Way to Pay For Your Memberships. Starting November 1st.

We have been getting a few questions about our new billing system  Hopefully this article will help everyone.  We decided to change how we handle our billing service because we wanted to make it easier for our students and members.  Our goal is to cut out all the extra steps and just focus on classes and training.  Our Square App Credit Card reader just did not offer enough of what we needed.  We were disappointed in the lack of features it didn’t have.  

Using our new billing service our members should have received an email with their November 1st invoice attached as a PDF.  Here are some of the main questions we have received 

  1. There is a link to pay online in the email, is it safe?  Yes Intuit’s site is very safe.  Intuit develops Quickbooks and Quicken software and offers merchant services to many small to large businesses so they take our information and your information very seriously.  To read more about their security please visit: http://security.intuit.com/index.php
  2. Is this service free?  Yes this service is 100% free, no extra charges or hidden fees.  Just type in your bank account information or credit card information and that’s it, done.  For more information please visit: https://ipn.intuit.com/s/LearnMore
  3. Why is this better than just paying at Evolution in person?  It is less time consuming than coming in early before class or staying after your workout all sweaty to pay.  Most of you don’t even bring your wallets or checkbooks anyways.

  4. Can I still pay at Evolution? I don’t like the internet.   Yes we will be more than happy to take care of your payment in person.  We will still accept most major credit cards, checks, or good ole fashion cash.  
We are looking into simplifying this process even more by having your credit cards or bank accounts charged automatically.  I know many of you are interested in this, we will keep you posted.

There should be no reason why you can’t contact us with any questions or concerns.  Simple Call, Text, Email, and Find Us buttons help you connect with us in seconds.  
For those of you who have an iPhone and want to keep a shortcut “app” icon on your home screen.

  2. Click the share button at middle bottom (next to bookmarks button)
  3. Select  “Add to Home Screen”

Can’t Get Enough EVO? Sign Up For Our Newsletters

If you are a student, parent, friend, or visitor, please sign up for our newsletters.  If you don’t visit our website or Facebook often this is the easiest way to receive the latest news, updates, and deals.  There are 3 ways to sign up:
1) On our website at the upper right corner
2) On the top of our Facebook page where it says “Email Signup”
3) At EVO on our iPad.

All email addresses are never given away.  You will receive a confirmation email asking if you want to join newsletter.  Please click on the link to confirm.

If you have already signed up please check your SPAM folder and add us to your safe list.  We have received feedback that gmail will spam these newsletters.  
The last thing you want is to get excited and pumped up before a class to then drive over and find out we are closed for a holiday or event you were not aware of.

Facebook Check-Ins Deals, where did you go?

Everyone we have some bad news.  It looks like Facebook’s recent app update to iPhones and Androids have broken the chance for you to claim discounts and prizes from us for collecting check-in’s at Evolution.

We hope they fix this soon and you all can start accumulating check-in’s again.  We let you know when and if they decide to fix this.  We hope this doesn’t change the fact that you all still continue to check-in and write really smart-a** status comments.  🙂

Our First Deal with Affective Living.

We have partnered up with Affective Living because we believe in education and charities.  Affective Living is similar to any other group buying deal sites (ie. Groupon, Living Social), the only difference is they give a percentage back on every deal to the local schools and or charities of the buyers choosing.  Their area of focus for now is northern portion of the San Fernando Valley, Northridge, Chatsworth, Granada Hills, and Porter Ranch.  They are slowly expanding.

Accumulate Facebook “Check-Ins” at Evolution Martial Arts Academy to Earn Discounts and Free Stuff.

We would like to somehow thank all of our loyal students for coming into Evolution Martial Arts Academy training and working hard on a regular basis.  So we have come up with a way to reward them.  We will break this down as simple as possible.  Starting Wednesday June 13th do the following:

Check-In
1.  Check yourself into Evolution Martial Arts Academy on FACEBOOK when you arrive.  You will see  “Accumulate check-ins for rewards. Up to 50% off” (example below, may look different based on the version of FB on phone)

2. Take Class
3. Go Home (shower)
4. Do it again next time.  Check-in as much as possible.
5. Once you have checked in 20 times it should say “Present this screen to Jason or Brandon”
6.  We then input into the good ole computer that you checked in 20 times and then you start all over.
Cash-Out
So you have a bunch of check-ins what can do with them?  We are in the process of developing a chart that you can pick and choose how to spend your check ins.  For example 25 check-ins can earn you 50% off a T-Shirt.  Or you can save up 50 check-ins for a Free T-Shirt.  
So remember June 13th start racking up Check-Ins…who knows one item maybe a Free Month.  Something so simple can earn you some cool stuff in our opinion.

We are close to signing a deal, barring any major setbacks.

We are closing in on a 3 year, potentially 5 year deal for a spot in Chatsworth.  Hopefully we finalize this in the next few days.  We and others have looked over the pages and pages of the lease making sure all of our bases are covered.  There are a few minor things that we need to resolve but they should not be major issues.  We have aggressively fought for a deal that we feel is fair enough that will help our start-up survive.

We will keep you all posted.  Again thank you for all the support during this long, sometimes dreadful process.             

Google has finally done it. Blogger App on iOS.

Google has finally answered a wish we have been hoping for since the beginning of the year. They have officially released a blogger app for iOS today. This message was written on an iPhone while waiting for lunch and it’s great.

How does this help us? This little app allows us to update the news feed on our website anywhere anytime we have signal. Because everything we have is linked together it updates our Facebook page with the same article.

What does this mean for you? All news can be updated as fast as we can think of it. As long as you follow any one of our news sources you should be updated.

With the technology we have today it enables us to effectively communicate to all of our followers. As always thanks for following us and supporting us through this tough journey.

What “Circle” are you going to belong to?

We always try to stay up to date with the latest and greatest in new technologies, which is sometimes really difficult knowing how fast things change.  We have mentioned in a previous news article about our Evo website and what our goals for the site are.  What was not mentioned was that Google and all the tools associated with it play such a vital role in our site’s features.  Google has enabled us to communicate more effectively with our students and all other users who follow us.

Google has decided to step up and challenge the social media giant Facebook with Google+.  It has some very similar features as Facebook but one stand out feature we really like is the ability create “Circles” and assign people into specific circles.  This gives us even better channels of communications with our students and users.  Specific circles receive specific information from us which is more efficient.  Imagine the ability for all our students to create Evo circles with classmates.  It will bring the Evo community that much closer together.  Google+ is still in beta and is invite only but shows great potential to legitimately compete with Facebook.

One of the features we were hoping for was allowing our Google Apps profile to be used to create our Google+ profile.  Maybe in a few weeks they will allow this.  Google is currently looking into applying Google+ into businesses, we have signed up to be notified when this feature is available.  We are hoping Google+ can be easily embedded into our website so users can easily add us.

If you get an invite you should register for an account.  They already have a +1 button below this post…Google you get a +1, keep up the good work, it makes life a bit easier for us.
