Parents have been asking when are you releasing new shirts for my kids? We’ve been working hard on a great design.  The design for boys is a great grunge design with colors of red and grey.  We felt most girls wouldn’t like this as much so we released a version for them.  It’s a design with grace and a more floral design in teal and purple.  This is a premium tri-blend shirt for ultimate comfort and mobility.

Just in time for fall and winter, pair this shirt with a matching hoodie.  The grunge hoodie is high quality mid-weight front zip up hoodie.  The sizes are adult sizes starting at extra small all the way to extra large.  

Pre-order the Grunge T-shirt for $25, the Hoodie for $40 before November 13th. Update 11/2/15: Wear Your Costume to Class Day (Friday and Saturday)

Every year on the day before Halloween we allow students to wear their costumes to class. We typically cancel classes on Halloween day if lands on a weeknight, since this year it falls on a Saturday we will be open in the morning and allow any students who can’t make it to Fridays class to wear their costume Saturday.

Children can bring any masks or accessories for their costume for our group photo but will have to leave those items off to the side during class.  Wearing a costume is not mandatory.  We look forward to seeing you all in your costumes.

Season 3 Top Team Auditions – August 23rd and 30th

It’s that time of the year, Top Team auditions.  We are assembling a new group of Top Team students for the 2015-2016 season.
Do you like performing in front of a crowd? Does that type of intensity get your adrenaline pumping? Evolution Martial Arts Academy is holding auditions to join Evo Top Team, our demonstration team. Evo Top Team will perform demonstrations at future belt graduations and other special events. A special class on Fridays will allow these team members to work together and prepare for the next performance and improve on special skills.

Whats New this year:
This year we will be selecting 10 students to join the Top Team.  The students will be split into 2 teams.  Each team will perform at alternating belt graduations.  This will give students 2 months off to rest before they start meeting for practices and finally perform at a graduation.  If some students would like to perform at all demonstrations they are more than welcome to as well.  Once the teams are formed, performance dates will be given.

Requirements:
The ONLY requirement needed to audition is the rank of at least Hapkido Jr. Green Belt. All students who fulfill this requirement are more than welcome to try out but NOT every student will make it. Only 10 spots are available on this roster as of right now. Five of the most important factors we are looking for are

  • Focus
  • Following directions
  • Technical ability
  • Intensity
  • Being able to handle pressure

How Auditions Work:

  • Auditions will be held on Sunday August 23rd and August 30th starting at 8:30am.
  • Students must make an appointment ahead of time (Sign Ups will be on the front counter). Students only audition one time on one of the days. (Previous Top Team members MUST audition again)
  • Students waiting must wait in lobby area until their turn.
  • Each student will demonstrate in 10 minutes a list of techniques in front of judges. (Students have done all these techniques before, list of techniques will not be known to student until they step on the mat)
  • Once students are done they are free to leave.
  • Judges will review all notes and students who made the team will be notified a couple days later.

Parents keep in mind there is a possibly only one sibling could make it while the other(s) do not. Students who make the team may be cut from the team at any time. Auditions will be held again in the future as we increase the number of spots on the team or have to fill available spots.

July 4th Holiday Schedule

We wanted to let everyone know we will be closed this July 4th Holiday weekend (Saturday and Sunday).  Most of you and some of us will be out of town for the holiday weekend.  Please stay safe and enjoy our Independence day.  See you all Monday.

The deadline to place your order is Tuesday June 30th.  You must pay for your item(s) prior to the deadline or it will not ordered.  This is the time for you to select the items and flavor YOU want.  We will only stock a few bags of the most popular products and flavors (those bags we ordered to stock at EVO were sold out in less than a week)

Please plan ahead and order enough to last until the next time we order which will most likely be sometime in August.  Most products are 30 servings which is enough to last most people a full month unless you share with others.

Just like last time you will receive $10 off your total order if you purchase 2 or more bags of any Progenex product.

 

Black Belt Club Event – Disney Pixar Inside Out Movie – July 11th

We will be having a special event for all Black Belt Club members only.  If you are a member please join us to watch the new Disney Pixar movie Inside Out.  The date we will be watching this movie will be July 11th, 2015 at the AMC movie theater at the Fallbrook Center.  We decided to watch it at this theater because of its really comfortable reclining seats.  The actual movie time has not been determined yet because the exact times have not been released by the theater.  We will select a time between 1pm-5pm that day.  As always wear your Black Belt Club T-Shirt.

We will be putting up a sign up sheet on the front counter soon.  As always Black Belt Club members are FREE.  If parents and or siblings would like to join us please sign up as well.  Tickets for you will be $10 per person.  The deadline to sign up will be Monday night July 6th.  If you Sign Up and DO NOT attend the movie you will unfortunately be charged $10 per ticket as we have to purchase and reserve the seats ahead of time.

Free Avengers Movie Night June 26th. 7:30-10:00pm

It’s time to kick off the summer with an action packed adventure.  For all superhero fans and non-superhero fans join us FREE for one of the biggest grossing films of all time, The Avengers.  Come watch Captain America, the Hulk, Iron Man and many others as they come together to battle Loki.  This movie is rated PG-13 for sci-fi action and some mild language.

Please come a little earlier to get a great spot on the mat to watch.  We will not be serving any type of food or dinner,  if you plan on coming or dropping off your child please have them fed before the movie begins.  We will only be serving freshly popped popcorn.

Remember to wear comfortable clothes, bring a pillow maybe a blanket, and a water bottle if you get thirsty.  We have fliers on the front counter for you to invite your friends.  Hope to see you all there.

Evolution Martial Arts Clinic – Sunday May 17th

We will be hosting an Evolution Martial Arts Clinic on Sunday May 17th from 11:30-12:30pm. If your child needs a bit more help in Hapkido working toward their tips or getting ready for an upcoming exam this clinic is perfect for them.  Or maybe your child just wants to improve some of the little details.  The cost of this one-hour clinic is $20.

Think of it as a group private lesson, you pick what YOU need to work and improve on.  Instructors will go around helping you and giving feedback on what you could improve on.  There will always be a good ratio of instructors so you are guaranteed quality attention.

There is no stretching, or games, the hour is strictly working on curriculum and your skills.  This clinic does not guarantee you a tip or a successful passing of your exam.  This clinic is an additional supplement to regular class attendance and practice at home.

Minor Class Schedule Change for Tiny Tigers and Hapkido Jrs. Starting April 20th

We hate changing our class schedule because we understand parents have their own schedules, other activities, and routines. Back in 2012 our class schedule changed often due to the change in the needs of our students. In the last couple years we made minor tweaks to our schedule for the same reason. 2015 has been a great start for us with a lot of new faces taking classes. As we mature as a martial arts academy we should be making less changes to our class schedule as things start to settle down.

Due to the growth of new students in 2015 we will be making a minor change in our class schedule. This will be better for our students. The changes made below will allow us to focus more on specific belt rankings while giving better instruction to the students.

Tiny Tiger Changes

Monday and Wednesday
5:00 – 5:30pm – White – Green Belts only
5:30 – 6:00pm – Blue – Black Belts only

Hapkido Jr. Changes

Tuesdays and Thursdays
6:00-7:00pm – White – Yellow Belts only
