Hapkido Jrs Schedule Change Starting November 7th.

With our new class of Black Belts its time we offer a new Black Belt class.  With this new class we will have to shift some classes around.  In an effort to maintain our quality while adding another class we will be offering more specialized belt color specific classes.  This will ultimately give our students more attention in their specific belt color.

We have tried to find a good balance of classes while still giving you parents the flexibility of offering different times throughout the week for your hectic schedule.  We hope this schedule will still work for most of our students.  As always we recommend students come in consistently at least 2 times per week.

Aquatic-Picture-small-896x500

Attention all Black Belt Club Members our next Black Belt Club event will be at the Santa Clarita Aquatic Center.  Please join us on Saturday August 27th at 12pm.  This will be a fun afternoon to enjoy some swimming with your Black Belt Club friends.  Since we could have a large group we all need to arrive earlier so we all can get in easily.  The Aquatic Center has 2 recreation pools, one with a water slide which you must be at least 48″ to ride, and a diving pool.  Check out the video below.

Evolution will cover the cost of the Black Belt Club Member, any parents entering or siblings attending will have to pay for themselves (you have to pay an entry fee even if don’t actually swim).  The cost for kids is $4 and adults is $6.  Your entry fee will allow you to stay at the facility from 12pm-5pm.  We will be there for a bit but you are more than welcome to stay as long as you wish.

You are allowed to bring water bottles but no food, as they sell food there.  They have locker rooms with showers and changing areas.  I believe you can re-enter the aquatic center once you get in, they will stamp your hand.  The provided sitting and relaxing area is first come first serve but you can bring your own beach chairs, umbrellas, and possibly pop-up tents)

If you are interested in attending this event please sign up at the front desk.  Don’t forget the sunblock!

Everyone knows someone who is autistic.  Thousands of CrossFit Boxes all over the country and tens of thousands of athletes will all participate on September 10th for the Lift Up Autism.

WHAT IS LIFT UP AUTISM?

Three years ago, on October 19, 2013 Josh Everett, TrainHeroic, and more than 350 boxes in the fitness community, rallied together in spectacular fashion to support the Autism community in a worldwide workout event called Lift Up Luke.

This “competition for a cause” specifically sought to support early diagnosis and treatment of Autism, raise funds for the Autism Tree Project Foundation in San Diego, and most importantly, turn a global spotlight on the measured and severe impact of Autism on families and individuals around the world.

We decided to host an adult only CrossFit EVO Potluck Game Night on Friday Night August 26th at 7pm.  We wanted to do a Summer activity for all the CrossFitters.  This is an adult only event so please find someone to watch the kiddos if you have any.  Please bring some food or drinks as this is a potluck.  The game is a fun adult themed group game. The more people who come the better the game so try to get all your CrossFit Evo friends to show up.  In this game you’ll have to know everyone pretty well which I’m sure you all do.

So please join us for food, drinks, and tons of laughs.

Season 4 EVO Top Team Auditions. August 7 & 14.

It’s that time of the year, Top Team auditions.  We are assembling a new group of Top Team students for the 2016-2017 season.
Do you like performing in front of a crowd? Does that type of intensity get your adrenaline pumping? Evolution Martial Arts Academy is holding auditions to join Evo Top Team, our demonstration team. Evo Top Team will perform demonstrations at future belt graduations and other special events. A special class on Fridays will allow these team members to work together and prepare for the next performance and improve on special skills.

This year we will be selecting between 8-10 students to join the Top Team.  The students will be split into 2 teams.  Each team will perform at alternating belt graduations.  This will give students 2 months off to rest before they start meeting for practices and finally perform at a graduation.  If some students would like to perform at all demonstrations they are more than welcome to as well.  Once the teams are formed, performance dates will be given.

Requirements:
The ONLY requirement needed to audition is the rank of at least Hapkido Jr. Green Belt. All students who fulfill this requirement are more than welcome to try out but NOT every student will make it. Only 8-10 spots are available on this roster as of right now. Five of the most important factors we are looking for are

  • Focus
  • Following directions
  • Technical ability
  • Intensity
  • Being able to handle pressure

How Auditions Work:

  • Auditions will be held on Sunday August 7rd and August 14th starting at 8:30am.
  • Students must make an appointment ahead of time (Sign Ups will be on the front counter). Students only audition one time on one of the days. (Previous Top Team members MUST audition again)
  • Students waiting must wait in lobby area until their turn.
  • Each student will demonstrate in 10 minutes a list of techniques in front of judges. (Students have done all these techniques before, list of techniques will not be known to student until they step on the mat)
  • Once students are done they are free to leave.
  • Judges will review all notes and students who made the team will be notified a couple days later.

Parents keep in mind there is a possibly only one sibling could make it while the other(s) do not. Students who make the team may be cut from the team at any time. Auditions will be held again in the future as we increase the number of spots on the team or have to fill available spots.

Good luck, bring your skills.

We are adding a New Hapkido class on Fridays at 4pm for Jrs. White, Orange, & Yellow Belts
